Obstetric emergencies at homebirth
Homebirth is as safe as giving birth in hospital if the women are well selected, if the mode of transfer is well organized, without delay and if the midwife attending is well educated. The obstetric emergencies- shoulder dystocia, unexpected breech, post partum haemorrage, anaphylaxia and eclampsia are rare and needs to be trained on a regular basis. The training evolves around the particular setting of home or clinic birth.
